Founders Day Fun

New Port Richey has something no other town in the Tampa Bay area has–a history filled with Roaring 20’s Hollywood stars that planned to make this sleepy little settlement the “Hollywood of the East”!

Stroll through our streets and you will see the mark they left so long ago with beautiful Spanish-revival architecture, the gold-domed Richey Suncoast Theatre and the graceful beauty of the soon-to-be-renovated Hacienda Hotel.

Along with our glamorous Hollywood ties and wild Prohibition antics, we also enjoy the history of fishing, farming and the Rail Road’s that once put this town on the map with a booming new industry.

The Celebrities also came for sports & recreation; Golfer Gene Sarazen had his own gold course; Babe Ruth came for the fishing, as did Johnny Cash. John Wayne used to hunt on a local farm. There was even auto racing around Orange Lake
This award winning festival pays homage to the city’s vivid history, that includes the early settlement days through the hey days of the roaring 20’s and on to the present, on the anniversary of New Port Richey’s founding in 1924. Live musical entertainment all weekend includes a mix of traditional and contemporary folk, gospel, Dixieland jazz and true oldies – all the kinds of music played throughout our city’s history!  Come on down and enjoy this  family friendly event.
